5 Foods I Eat Every Day
As a nutritionist, one of the most frequently asked questions I get is people wondering I eat every day. The simple answer to that is, mostly plants! But here, I narrowed it down to five foods that I make sure to eat every day. When I don’t eat these foods, I don’t feel good.

Listen Up!
It may be scary to think about, but the earlier an illness is identified, the better the chances are for a good outcome. The goal here is really to stop issues before they turn into a worst-case scenario. You must learn to listen!

Let’s save our small businesses!
None of us predicted this pandemic and none of us alone can fix the situation we are in. But working together, we can help preserve the businesses and people we care about. We have all had to switch gears many, many times over the past few months, and businesses are no different. On behalf of small businesses everywhere, thank you for your continued service! We couldn’t be here without you!

When others don’t agree with you
There are two questions that I get asked almost immediately when someone finds out I eat a whole-food, plant-based diet. First, they ask, “Aren’t you hungry all the time?” and second, “Is your husband vegan?”. Interestingly, the answer to both questions is no. This information can be applied to many different health changes when those around you are not on board.

You should care about prevention.
What if we spent more time focusing on prevention? Many of the top causes of death in the United States are largely preventable including heart disease, cancer, chronic lung disease, stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, and kidney disease. WOW! What does that have to do with the current state of our world? Everything!

“New Normal”? Nope.
We need to push forward, to persevere. When times get tough, we get tougher. At least that’s the American spirit that I was raised with. Ok, enough of the clichés. What can we do right now? Do whatever you think is right! That’s the thing, that’s what freedom is all about! But know that what you choose to do or not do, will come with consequences, whether good or bad.

Let’s take the “WE” out of Wellness
Wellness has become a controversial topic. I’m not quite sure why, but it has. Just like with politics, everyone has seemingly become an expert in the area. Everyone has the “secret” to being healthy. I call BS. Let me start with some of the misconceptions about wellness and being healthy. Then I will get to some simple things you can do right now to knock out the misinformation and get on with your healthy life.

Rest In Peace, Big Man
This is a story about animal abuse, neglect, love, and survival. This is Lakey’s story.

Life is tough. But so are you.
Despite losing almost everything, Viktor Frankl says he and his fellow prisoners were left with the last human freedom: “the ability to choose one’s attitude in a given set of circumstances.” I think this is a truly powerful statement that can be applicable in so many circumstances, especially today. The camps of Auschwitz are an extreme example of human suffering that I hope the human race is never exposed to again. Frankl’s body of work focused on suffering, which he describes as any emotional trauma, no matter how big or small. How we chose to handle that trauma defines how we come out on the other side.

From One Depressed Girl to Another...
May is Mental Health Awareness Month and this May, it is probably more relevant than ever before. No matter our political views, one thing we can all likely agree on is this pandemic has impacted our mental health in one way or another. You may be feeling the challenges of anxiety, grief, isolation, anger, and stress either directly on you and your family or through the changes in your day-to-day life. You may feel frustrated with not being able to provide for your family, not knowing what or who to trust in the news and on social media or feel the divide both as a country and possibly as a family.

Welcome to Survival Mode
I have spent the last few weeks trying to figure out the best way to help people during this strange time we are in. I have been creating posts and going about my day as if everything is “normal”. But the truth is, none of this is normal. Some days are fine but other days it’s easier to just break down in tears yearning for life “before”. I feel like we are in some weird mix of a Stephen King movie and the Handmaid’s Tale (luckily, though, without all the sex slavery!). The face masks being advertised from big retailers look a little too much like the “new and improved” masks that handmaids on the East Coast were forced to wear so no one would see that their jaws were wired shut. To be honest, that’s a bit how I feel these days. If you missed last season’s finale, by the way, now is not the time to watch it!

Please, please, please… STOP!
Who would have ever imagined that something simple like going to the grocery store could be potentially dangerous and a little scary?! Unfortunately, that’s the world we are living in right now. I want to debunk some of the biggest questions you may be wondering about grocery shopping right now, including: Is fresh produce safe to eat?

Happy Earth Day! 🌎
I have always loved Earth Day. There’s something special about knowing that people from all corners of the world are coming together for a common goal, no matter their religion, political view, or any other “status”. We can put our differences aside for just one day; no matter the things that separate us and make us different, we have one very big thing in common. Earth. She is the only place we have to live, and she needs our help.
It’s nice to meet you!
Hello! Welcome to Full Bloom Acres! I am Lindsay and I am so happy you are here! I thought for my first blog post, I would share a little bit about my story and why I am starting this business (especially why I chose now, amongst all the chaos and uncertainty). It all started back in the ‘80s on a magical day in February…. Just kidding.
